ANTIQUITY
It began with the invention of writing and it ended with the fall of the Roman Empire.
Major civilizations developed along important rivers:

In this unit, we are going to study two of these civilisations: Greece and Rome.
Greece
Its most important cities are Athens and Sparta
•They invented democracy.
•They had interest in

–Science
–Art
These are some of their most important monuments:Rome
•There was a Roman Empire
–Conquered territory that reached the Mediterranean sea
–Governed by an EMPEROR
–Capital
city: ROME
–Had colonies
•Language: LATIN
•Religion: they believed in many gods
•Society: 2 types of people:
–Free man
–Slaves: property of ther people
•Cities: were big
–Buildings: theaters, temples, circusis, public baths…
–Roads: connected the cities
–Aqueducts: brought water to the cities
